Daily route
- A secure, non-slip path connects bed, water, door and family area.
- Rug edges lie flat and cannot slide.
- Thresholds and tight turns are easy to see and cross.
- Night lighting covers the route to water and outdoors.
Rest & recovery
- The main bed is supportive and large enough for a full side stretch.
- At least one bed edge is easy to step over.
- The bed is away from cold drafts but near normal family activity.
- The cover and waterproof liner can be washed separately.
Food & water
- Bowls are easy to reach without standing on a slippery surface.
- Fresh water is available on the floor where the dog spends most of the day.
- Changes in appetite or drinking are recorded.
- Treats and chews suit current dental comfort and veterinary advice.
Steps, car & outdoors
- Unsafe stairs are gated or used only with supervision.
- A safe ramp or lifting plan is ready for the car if needed.
- Wet decking, ice and loose gravel are checked before outings.
- The shortest route outside stays clear in every season.
Weekly observation
- Getting up and lying down look unchanged.
- Interest in walks and family activity is unchanged.
- Sleep, toileting and behavior are unchanged.
- Any new pain, weakness or confusion has been discussed with a veterinarian.
